Thank you again everyone for all the great posts. I am tired as hell but despite that it was not very hard to get up today Click here to enlarge

For those that were wondering about the LC setting it was on LC1.

I doubt we will have time to edit the video today but we will try of course. We have a lot of footage

I want to take this time to thank Mr John Shepherd. This was not planned in any way. We had several transmissions that needed to come back to the shop and rather than paying to ship them John offered to drive them down for us and take a look at a couple cars while he was here. He was not here more than an hour when the question "want to go to the track?" was raised. He hopped in Tim's car with NO experience and did a great job.

I really cannot speak enough about the mild manners of this car when driving around. John himself said "that thing drives so smooth, its like stock" It really is by every definition of the word a FULL BLOWN STREET CAR!

As far as the reason we got kicked out... lol

Based on NHRA rules this car needs the following:

    Full Roll cage
    Full fire suit
    battery cut off
    four point harness
and the best part....... it now needs a PARACHUTE!!

Well this is a street car so we were not about to toss all that in it. Needless to say after two consecutive mid 9 second passes with only a helmet and a fire jacket as safety equipment we were kindly asked to pack it up for the day.

    Eric
    -----------

This is their 900whp GTR, still got 1000whp+ left. Pretty sure it will crack 8s.

very fast man! look at that 1/8th trap! awd ftw. anyway, its funny they kicked them out, rules are rules i suppose. how are they going to make multiple passes on 1000whp sticky? they need probably even more safety equipment. including a parachute? who the hell is going to put that on a street car.

Chuck, he's the administrator over NAGTROC. His car will have over 1000whp plus cage and a chute. Will crack 8s.

Oh and it will be his DD.

    Yeah thats serious!!!!

My buddy just took his to the track and he was running 10.80's with reflash exhaust and 35r hotsides, and for some reason his tranny was messed up while shifting from second to 3rd so once that gets fixed im sure it will be running lower 10's

He has another motor being fully sleeved by darton using twin precision 5857 billet turbos. Cant wait to see what that thing runs

I dont see the reason, RWD, Low torque, High REV. M3 guys need to get off SC and get on TTs.

The tranny takes as much time as the engine. First car to reach serious levels of power with DCT. Yup clutches, clips, pistons, pumps. Shep trans taking care of the tranny.\

3 big tuners with over 1000whp in the works.

Wow. I went over to the AMS site and saw their Alpha 9 kit goes for US$22,000. It run a 10 flat on pump fuel. Quite incredible stuff that when comparing to what you would have to spend at HPF on a E46 M3. I guess its a change of a era with new cars starting off which such powerful base models.

awd is a huge factor too george. if the m3 came awd factory we would be seeing a bunch of people in the 10's and 9's. fact is rwd is better for a roadcourse and that's where bmws love to be, not the 1/4th.

RWD is actually better for drag racing as well, I just haven't seen somebody put the right setup on an M3 yet. They all seem to be traction limited when near the 1000whp mark.

Get some 15" slicks and I doubt there will be a traction problem.

i can see where you're coming from, as top fuel and drag cars all have rwd. however they are dedicated drag cars. both the gtr and the m3 are not unless you turn them into one. awd is the best set up for a street car (production car) thats being tested on the 1/4th. would you agree?

It really depends on the car. A Viper/Corvette/Supra can fit 345+ drag radials, which can hook fairly well a good road. I have seen a 8 second Corvette (dedicated drag car) lose to a 10 second evo on the street, but the evo would get raped at the 1/4. All the GTR's from Nissan have been capable of 4 digit hp numbers, and no doubt the AWD system on them is tough and allows for running street tires while still hooking up. But there are RWD cars that will hang with this or beat it on the street, that aren't dedicated drag cars.

There is a video of somebody even pulling a WHEELSTAND on DOT rated street tires, on the street. It was setup for the 1/4 though, unlike this GTR.

It's more of a car/suspension/tire thing, than AWD vs RWD.

I guess I just have a hard time saying that something is the BEST over something else, when there are so many variables.

But I think we all agree here that FWD is good for nothing. Click here to enlarge

We'll see. Unfortunately most people don't even give it a chance or realize that if the S65 ran this kind of boost it would chew this GTR up and spit it out.

    Exactly, more people mod GTR's.

They have how many people taking the motors to high levels and building the trans? We have.. what, me and 2 guys with built motors running boost?

i agree, high revving v8 and twin turbo would be amazing. i think its too hard to tune thats prob the main reasoning. is fueling a problem too? turbos love fuel Click here to enlarge
